在2001年，Dave Bowman带领的美国、苏联联合考察队登陆木星，去查明是否有什么强大的生物在木星上存在，因为新近在木星附近发现的一块神秘的黑色巨石令美国议员们忐忑不安。但考察队一去不复返，只留下Dave Bowman最后的惊呼：“上帝啊，这里全是星……”现在，2010年，十年前负责考察活动的Heywood Floyd博士再赴木星。他和全体队员的任务是，找到并修复当年考察队使用的HAL-9000电脑，以弄清十年前发生的事。。民国初年青年贺长生自幼跟随外祖父游走四方、行医救人，学习了不少本领，在外祖父去世后，便和发小儿胡一发一起闯荡上海，开了一家小医药馆，为百姓行医。直到一天，贺胡二人正在打理店铺之时，苗人打扮的女子阿蛮找上门，要求贺长生“父债子偿”，履行承诺。莫名其妙的贺长生与阿蛮发生争执。就在两人争执不下之时，一名名叫何仁坚的男子带着一队外国雇佣兵出现将医馆团团围困...。A private detective helps a prostitute being assaulted, and notices that she is wearing a very unique ring.
