A scientist performing illegal stem cell research is trying to find a cure for cancer. After the transfer of shark cells is made into a human test subject, the ill man gets well again and it looks like the treatment was a success. But the experiment goes wrong, and the man transforms into monster: half-shark & half-human. But the scientist knows how to use this to his advantage...。故事开始于1923年加利福尼亚的的瓜达洛普大沙漠，传奇导演Cecile B. DeMille正在拍摄一部名为《十诫》的无声史诗电影。这部电影是根据DeMille自己的想法来拍摄的，这和33年后（1956年）DeMille再次拍摄的Charlton Heston主演的著名版本完全不同。但是片场频繁出现的离奇死亡事件，让DeMille烦恼不已－－更令人感到恐怖的是，这些人的死因和死状很像是传说中的古埃及死神阿努比斯（Anubis）所为。最终，电影摄制完成，但是谁也不知道，片场所使用的古埃及遗物唤醒了邪恶的魔灵。DeMille命人将多余的道具掩埋到黄沙之下…… 80多年过去了，从伊拉克战场上退役的老兵Mark协助年迈的祖父来到当年的电影拍摄地，Mark的祖父希望能挖掘出自己孩童时代亲手埋下的遗物。与此同时，Alice Carter博士带着一群学生来到沙漠腹...。
