Guy is an experienced British fighter pilot who is in command of Britain's first manned mission to space. He has trained for this for three years at the height of the Cold War and now he is alone in space with a malfunctioning capsule. He has limited contact with the UK, some unusual communication with the US and some unorthodox communication with Tyuratam deep in Soviet Russia...。工藤の長編3作目「遠いところ」は、沖縄の若年層の実態を描いた物語。沖縄の子供の困窮した状況、DV、シングルマザーの様子を追ったルポルタージュに工藤が自身の生い立ちを重ね合わせたことから企画が生まれ、独自に取材を重ね全編沖縄で撮影した。。
