故事背景为一九一七年左右，当时正为军阀割据，国民革命军北伐的前夕。故事开始为革命军官曾泰少梭，奉命谋夺军阀金大帅辖下的第三团军火库。曾泰与助手两名，来到封锁线，被对方侍卫发现，助手被枪杀，曾泰逃难至乡村。流氓孟强，终日无所事事，在乡镇中穿插，偷人财物。这天，他见两名军官与酒保争论，他看准机会，偷取一军人钱包。他的行动全被曾泰看见了。曾泰觉得孟强有利用价值，于是与孟强及其好友铁马骝、红辣椒答应合作，劫走军火，所得利润平分，于是孟强意外地介入了关乎国家兴亡的事业中，产生出一段轰轰烈烈的英雄故事。。It is no wonder that we are mesmerized by mountains, are afraid of them and are obsessed by them.
