The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。本武侠片为林福地编导，由舒佩佩、虞慧及川原主演。故事讲述巡按御史傅秉忠(井淼饰)被皇上降下圣旨令其即行开缺回籍，傅装好两箱书，与仆人取山道回京城。傅主仆二人途中遇见武功不凡的燕书棠(川原饰)、少女史雪兰(舒佩佩饰)与丫环小梅(虞慧饰)，一行人在破庙遭遇匪徒袭击，两箱书被抢走，傅秉忠与史雪兰更被匪徒掳进山洞……。橙橙（王思思 饰）为了省钱来救治重病的父亲，放弃了出国念书的机会。但为了不让父亲失望，橙橙骗他说自己在伦敦留学。为了圆这个谎言，橙橙找来了会做视频后期的坎子（房祖名 饰），她雇佣坎子假装自己的男友，并且帮助自己伪造视频和照片来制造自己在伦敦念书的假象。 坎子炉火纯青的技术一次又一次的骗过了老爷子的眼睛，但在这个过程中，坎子渐渐对善良坚强的橙橙产生了好感，对待老爷子也动了真情。不幸的是，老爷子的病情恶化最终还是撒手人寰，这也就意味着，坎子和橙橙之间的合作关系即将画上句号。。
