Miss Mary Morstan contacts Sherlock Holmes for his help regarding her father, captain Morstan, who disappeared 10 years ago. Since his disappearance she annually receives a valuable pearl by post from an unknown person. The mystery leads Holmes and doctor Watson into an intricate plot regarding a lost treasure belonging to four convicts on the Andaman Islands。跟钻石有关系的事情还能纯洁到哪去，本片交错式的剧情会把悬念一直留到最后，故事的大概是这样的：三个贼盗窃一个罕见的无暇钻石失败，可是他们却撞见了一个价值连城的项链，他们三个互相猜忌，因为珍宝当前，谁敢相信谁？。
